Watermelon Sugar Baby Seeds

Watermelon Sugar Baby Seeds produce a compact, fast-maturing variety that is ideal for smaller gardens. The round fruits grow to around 15 to 20cm across, with sweet, fine-textured red flesh and only a few seeds. Perfect for those who want the taste of homegrown watermelon without the space needed for larger varieties. Best enjoyed chilled on hot summer days.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 12mm deep directly into the garden. Place 4 to 5 seeds together in each clump, later thinning to the two strongest seedlings. Space clumps 40 to 50cm apart with about 100cm between rows. When plants reach 5 to 6 leaves, pinch out the tips to encourage side shoots. Prepare soil with compost or fertiliser before planting, water regularly and mulch to help keep the soil moist.
When To Plant
Sow during spring and summer in a sunny position with warm soil.
Harvest
Ready to pick 12 to 14 weeks from sowing. Harvest when fruits sound hollow when tapped and the underside turns a creamy yellow.
Soil Type
Prefers fertile, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter.
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat the seeds or feed them to animals. Treatment is an AQIS requirement for certain imported seed varieties and does not affect crops or harm beneficial insects such as bees. If treated, the packet will be clearly marked and the seeds dyed a bright colour.
