Product Overview
Pea Sugar Snap Seeds
40 grams of seed
A versatile and worthwhile pea variety producing fleshy pods that can be picked young and cooked whole like French beans, or left to mature and eaten after stringing. Pods are also delicious raw in salads. Hardy annual with excellent yields.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5cm deep in flat trenches 15cm wide. Plant in a zig-zag fashion along the trench, spacing 7.5cm apart. Fill in with soil and firm gently. Leave 90cm between rows if sowing multiple. Provide trellis or support for climbing plants. Protect seedlings from birds with netting during early growth. Sticks or twigs can also be used to support the crop, making harvesting easier and improving yields. Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days. Keep well watered once germinated.
When To Plant
Late Summer to Winter.
Harvest
14 weeks from sowing.
Sow
Spring, Autumn, Winter.
Soil Type
Well-prepared, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position.
Important Note
Additional fertiliser is not required as peas fix their own nitrogen. Regular picking will extend the harvest period.
