Chives Garlic Herb Seeds
200 Seeds
Garlic chives are a hardy perennial with flat, broad leaves and a mild garlic flavour. They are perfect for adding to salads, stir-fries, casseroles and soups, and their pretty white summer flowers are also edible. Easy to grow in both garden beds and pots, they are a versatile and attractive addition to the herb garden.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 12mm deep in groups of 3 to 4, then thin to the strongest plant once seedlings establish. Space plants about 15cm apart. Garlic chives grow well in any good garden soil but will perform best in a sunny position with regular watering. Plants can also be grown in pots and harvested as needed.
When To Plant
Sow in spring and summer, or year-round in frost-free regions.
Harvest
Cut leaves as required once plants are established. Flowers can also be picked in summer for salads and garnishes.
Soil Type
Grows in most soils but thrives in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
