A vigorous organic strain of chives with long, dark green leaves and attractive pink flowers. This hardy perennial herb brings both flavour and colour to the garden and is ideal for containers or borders. The mild onion taste is perfect for garnishing salads, soups, potatoes and egg dishes, while the edible flowers make a pretty addition to summer meals.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 15mm deep in groups of 3 to 4, thinning to the strongest seedling in each clump. Space plants about 15cm apart in full sun or partial shade. Chives grow well in most garden soils and can also be sown indoors year-round in pots. Harvest by cutting leaves close to the ground before flowering begins. For a fresh flush of growth, trim plants back and allow new shoots to emerge.
When To Plant
Best sown from spring to autumn, or indoors at any time of year.
Harvest
Cut leaves as required throughout the growing season. Regular cutting encourages tender new growth.
Soil Type
Grows best in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Suitable for garden beds, borders and containers.
