Product Overview
Chilli Jalapeno World Kitchen Seeds
Approx 30 seeds
Jalapeno is one of the world’s most recognised chillies, loved for its bold flavour and medium heat. The glossy green fruits are usually harvested young but can be left to mature into a rich red, offering a slightly sweeter flavour. Perfect for authentic Mexican cuisine, jalapenos shine in salsas, nachos, tacos, pizzas, and more. With their versatility, they can be enjoyed fresh, dried, pickled, or cooked.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5 mm deep in seed trays, punnets, or directly into warm, well-drained soil. Keep moist until germination, which takes 7–21 days. Transplant seedlings into their final position when around 10–15 cm tall, spacing plants about 45–50 cm apart. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot or grow in large pots. Regular picking encourages further fruiting.
When To Plant
Spring to Summer. In frost-free northern areas, sowing may also extend into Winter.
Harvest
12–14 weeks from sowing. Harvest green for a classic jalapeno kick, or allow to ripen to red for a slightly sweeter, richer taste.
Sow
Spring, Summer.
Soil Type
Well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Care
Keep soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Feed every few weeks with a liquid fertiliser to encourage strong growth and heavy crops. Handle fruits with care – the capsaicin may irritate skin and eyes.
