Thyme World Kitchen Seeds
Approx 1000 Seeds
Thyme is one of the most important herbs in world cuisine, prized for its strong, earthy flavour. Essential in Mediterranean cooking, it adds depth to soups, roasts, poultry, red meats and slow-cooked dishes. It’s also a key part of bouquet garni and pairs beautifully with garlic, lemon and wine-based sauces. Compact and decorative, thyme grows well in pots, garden beds or even as a low border plant.
How To Grow
Sow seeds very thinly, about 0.5cm deep, in trays of seed-raising mix or directly in the garden. Keep soil lightly moist until seedlings establish, then thin or transplant to allow bushy growth. In cooler climates, start in pots and transplant once plants are sturdy. Choose a warm, sunny position with free-draining soil. For drying, harvest sprigs just before the flowers open for the best flavour.
When To Plant
Can be sown all year round in most regions, or indoors in cooler areas.
Harvest
Pick fresh sprigs as required throughout the year. Regular cutting encourages healthy new growth.
Soil Type
Prefers light, sandy or well-drained soil in full sun.
