Product Overview
Broccoli Spigariello World Kitchen Seeds
Approx 250 seeds
Spigariello, often called leaf broccoli, is an Italian heirloom loved for its tender, kale-like leaves with a mild broccoli flavour. It produces continuous leafy growth rather than forming large heads, making it perfect for harvests over a long period. Use the leaves in sautés, soups, pasta or lightly steamed as a nutritious side dish.
How To Grow
Sow seeds thinly, about 5mm deep, directly into garden beds or seed trays. Firm soil lightly and keep moist until germination, usually within 7–12 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin or transplant to 30cm apart. Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Regular watering will promote healthy, tender leaves.
When To Plant
Late summer through to autumn in most regions. In warmer climates, it can also be sown in early spring.
Harvest
10–12 weeks after sowing. Pick young leaves regularly to encourage new growth.
Sow
Spring, Summer, Autumn.
Soil Type
Thrives in well-cultivated, nutrient-rich soil with good drainage.
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with a fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat the seeds or feed them to animals. This treatment is an AQIS requirement for certain seed varieties and does not affect your crops or harm beneficial insects. If treated, packets will be clearly marked and seeds dyed for identification.
