Product Overview
Broccoli Romanesco World Kitchen Seeds
Approx 250 seeds
This Italian favourite is famous for its striking lime-green spiral florets and sweet, nutty flavour. Romanesco can be enjoyed raw for a crunchy, mildly sweet bite, or cooked to bring out its delicate flavour. Try roasting with olive oil and finishing with parmesan for an easy Mediterranean-style side dish.
How To Grow
Sow seeds thinly, 5mm deep in trays or directly into well-prepared garden beds. Firm the soil and keep moist until germination, which takes 7–12 days. Once seedlings are strong enough, transplant to a sunny position, spacing plants about 60cm apart. Keep well watered and harvest when the central heads are fully formed but still tight.
When To Plant
Summer through to autumn.
Harvest
12–16 weeks from sowing. Cut heads before florets begin to separate.
Sow
Summer, Autumn.
Soil Type
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with a fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat the seeds or feed them to animals. This treatment is an AQIS requirement for certain seed varieties and does not affect your crops or harm beneficial insects. If treated, packets will be clearly marked and seeds dyed for identification.
