Product Overview
Bean Climbing Vitalis Seeds
25 grams of seed
Vitalis is an early cropping climbing bean producing long, flat, stringless pods up to 25cm in length. Known for its strong disease resistance to mosaic virus and anthracnose, this variety is both reliable and productive. With excellent flavour and generous yields, it’s a great choice for home gardens.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 2.5cm deep in damp soil, spacing 10 to 15cm apart in rows 50 to 60cm wide. Avoid watering immediately after sowing to prevent rotting. Seedlings usually appear within 7 to 10 days.
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot once the risk of frost has passed. Enrich soil with compost or well-aged manure before sowing. Support plants with canes, netting or a bean frame. Alternatively, beans can be grown as ground beans, with size managed by pinching out tips when shoots are 20 to 30cm long. Mulch to keep roots cool and water regularly during dry weather.
Beans naturally improve soil fertility, so additional fertiliser is not needed. Harvesting regularly encourages a longer cropping period.
When To Plant
Sow in spring and summer, or year-round in warm northern and tropical regions.
Harvest
Ready to pick from around 10 weeks after sowing.
Soil Type
Thrives in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with a fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat treated seeds or feed them to animals. Fungicide treatment is an AQIS requirement and does not affect your crop or beneficial insects such as bees.
