Product Overview
Bean Climbing Purple King Seeds
25 grams of seed
Purple King is an outstanding climbing bean that stands out for its striking colour. The long, flat pods are a deep purple on the plant but turn a rich green when cooked. Known for its reliability and heavy yields, it makes excellent use of garden space and is a favourite for both flavour and productivity.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 2.5cm deep in damp soil, spacing 10 to 15cm apart in rows 50 to 60cm wide. Avoid watering for the first day or two after sowing to prevent rotting. Plant after the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, sheltered spot. Apply mulch to keep roots cool and water well during dry periods.
Support plants with trellis, netting or canes, and pinch out tips to encourage bushy growth. Regular weeding and consistent moisture will ensure the best crop. No additional fertiliser is needed as beans naturally improve soil fertility.
When To Plant
Sow from late spring to mid summer. In warmer regions, sowing is possible from early spring through to mid autumn.
Harvest
Ready to pick in 10 to 12 weeks. Regular harvesting encourages continuous yields and keeps pods tender.
Soil Type
Thrives in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost.
Important Note
Frequent picking extends the harvest season and ensures top-quality beans.
