Australian Native Wisteria Seeds
25 Seeds
Native Wisteria (Hardenbergia), also known as Native Sarsaparilla, is a hardy and attractive Australian groundcover that has become a trusted feature in landscapes, parks, and gardens. Its glossy green foliage creates a dense backdrop, setting off the striking sprays of deep purple blooms. Best grown in groups where plants can knit together, Native Wisteria provides excellent ground coverage and seasonal colour from spring through autumn.
We recommend using Mr Fothergill’s Wildflower Seed Starter Granules to improve germination, as they replicate the bushfire smoke chemicals that stimulate native seed growth.
Plant Height: Groundcover or climber up to 3 metres
How To Grow
Sow in warm areas anytime, or in frost-prone areas after the danger of frost has passed. Place seeds in a cup of hot water with Wildflower Seed Starter granules, leave overnight, then drain before sowing. Fill pots or trays with moist sandy soil, firm down, and sow 2–3 seeds 6mm (¼in) deep per pot. Keep moist and cover with clear polythene, removing once germination begins. Place in a warm shaded position until seedlings are strong. Thin to the best plant in each pot, and transplant into permanent positions once plants reach about 10cm (4in) high. Water well after planting and regularly until established. Note: plants may take more than a year to reach flowering maturity.
