Australian Native Billy Button Seeds
100 Seeds
The Pycnosorus globosus, commonly known as Billy Button, is a hardy perennial native with narrow woolly leaves and striking golden globe-shaped flowers on sturdy stems. Flowering throughout spring, this Australian wildflower is excellent for cut flowers, drying, and adding long-lasting colour to garden beds. Naturally tolerant of frost, dry periods, and coastal conditions, it is adaptable and easy to grow in well-drained soils.
Plant Height: 50–75cm
How To Grow
Sow in warm areas at any time, or wait until the danger of frost has passed in cooler climates. Press seeds lightly into the surface of moist soil, either direct where they are to grow or in seed trays filled with quality seed-raising mix. Do not cover deeply. Water gently and keep evenly moist. For best results, add Mr Fothergill’s Wildflower Seed Starter Granules to the soil surface to mimic natural smoke chemicals and improve germination. Place pots or trays in a warm, shaded spot until germination occurs. Transplant seedlings to their final position at around 7cm high, taking care not to disturb roots. Grow in full sun or part shade in well-drained soil. Avoid high-phosphorus fertilisers not suitable for Australian natives.
Seedlings emerge in 14–21 days.
