Product Overview
Australian Native Red And Green Kangaroo Paw Seeds
100 Seeds
The Red and Green Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos manglesii), Western Australia’s floral emblem, is one of the most striking native wildflowers. With its vibrant red stems and green, claw-like blooms, it provides dramatic colour and unique texture in any garden. Hardy and reliable, this kangaroo paw grows to around 1m tall and is ideal for mass plantings or mixed displays with other kangaroo paw varieties.
We recommend the use of Wildflower Seed Starter Granules for improved germination rates and speed. These granules provide chemicals normally found in bushfire smoke that stimulate native seed germination.
Plant Height: 1m
If ‘Ink Disease’ (black spotting on leaves) appears, reduce watering and spray plants with a fungicide. Always water at the base of the plant, avoiding the foliage.
How To Grow
Sow in warm areas at any time. In colder climates, wait until the danger of frost has passed. Fill 10cm pots with a moist quality seed raising mix, sow one seed flat on its side per pot, and cover with mix to the thickness of the seed. Add Wildflower Seed Starter granules to the soil surface for best results. Water gently and keep evenly moist. Cover with clear polythene to retain warmth and humidity, removing it once germination starts. Place pots in a warm, shaded position. Transplant when plants reach about 20cm high, spacing 80–100cm apart. Apply light amounts of low-phosphate or slow-release fertiliser when planting out. Grow in full sun and well-drained sandy soil.
Water in well at planting, then regularly until established. Seedlings typically emerge in 1–3 weeks.
When To Plant
All year round except in the hottest or coldest weather. In colder climates, sow after frost risk has passed.
