Product Overview
Australian Native Illyarie Red Cap Seeds
10 Seeds
The Illyarie Red Cap (Eucalyptus erythrocorys) is a striking bushy eucalypt native to Perth and southern Western Australia. Its flowers are truly spectacular, beginning as waxy, bright red caps that open to reveal vibrant golden-yellow stamens. Hardy, adaptable, and fast-growing, Illyarie makes an excellent choice as a shade tree or windbreak, while adding dramatic colour to any garden.
We recommend using Mr Fothergill’s Wildflower Seed Starter Granules to improve germination, as they replicate the natural bushfire smoke chemicals that stimulate native seed growth.
Plant Height: 5m
How To Grow
Sow in warm areas at any time, or after the danger of frost has passed in cooler climates. Fill pots or seed trays with moist sandy soil, wet thoroughly, and firm gently. Sow seeds on the soil surface and cover lightly to about twice their thickness. For best results, apply Wildflower Seed Starter granules over the soil surface. Keep moist and place in a warm, shaded position to germinate. Transplant seedlings into individual containers when large enough to handle, and plant out into a permanent position once they reach around 20cm (8in). Water regularly during the first summer and prune after flowering to encourage a neat shape or desired height. Use a light application of low-phosphate, slow-release fertiliser.
