Australian Native Dwarf Wattle Seeds
75 Seeds
The Dwarf Wattle (Acacia drummondii ssp. candolleana) is a compact and bushy native shrub, producing brilliant golden sprays of flowers from the tips of its branches. A shorter cousin to Australia’s iconic floral emblem, this variety typically lives for 5–10 years and makes an excellent choice for low-maintenance screening, shrubbery, or adding vibrant seasonal colour to the garden.
We recommend using Mr Fothergill’s Wildflower Seed Starter Granules to enhance germination. These granules contain natural smoke chemicals that stimulate native seed germination.
Plant Height: 1m
How To Grow
In warm areas, sow at any time. In frost-prone regions, wait until the danger of frost has passed. Place seeds in a cup of hot water, leave overnight, then drain before sowing. Fill pots or seed trays with moist sandy soil, water thoroughly, and compress lightly. Sow seeds thinly on the surface and cover with a very fine layer of soil. Apply Wildflower Seed Starter granules over the soil surface if available. Keep moist and cover with clear polythene, removing as soon as germination begins. Place in a warm, shaded position until seedlings are strong. Transplant to their permanent position when around 5cm (2in) tall, being careful not to disturb roots. Water in well and keep watered regularly until established, with occasional watering during dry weather. Protect young plants from slugs and snails.
