Product Overview

Australian Native Albany Bottlebrush Seeds

200 Seeds

The Callistemon glaucus, commonly known as the Albany Bottlebrush, is a compact Australian native shrub admired for its vivid scarlet-red flowers that resemble classic bottlebrushes. Hardy, adaptable, and easy to grow, this striking shrub not only enhances garden landscapes but also provides valuable habitat and nectar for birds and other wildlife.

Plant Height: 3m

How To Grow

Sow in warm areas at any time of year, or wait until the danger of frost has passed in cooler regions. Fill small pots with moist sandy soil and firm down gently. Sow several seeds in each pot without covering them. Place pots in a shallow tray of water so the lower third is submerged, topping up as required. Cover pots with clear polythene until germination starts, then remove. Keep in a warm, shaded spot until seedlings are established. Thin to the strongest seedling per pot at about 5cm tall, and plant out once they reach around 10cm. Water regularly until established. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain shape and restrict height. Apply organic fertiliser sparingly. For improved germination, use Wildflower Seed Starter Granules, which provide natural smoke chemicals that stimulate seed growth.
