Product Overview
Snow Pea Oregon Dwarf Seeds
Oregon Dwarf is a heavy-cropping snow pea variety that produces fleshy, light green pods with a fine, sweet flavour. The whole pod is eaten, making it both tasty and economical. Pick pods while they are still flat and peas are just forming, or allow some to swell for a slightly different but still delicious eating experience. Compact and productive, this variety is ideal for small spaces and home gardens.
How to Grow
Sow in flat trenches 15 cm wide and 5 cm deep. Plant seeds in a zigzag pattern along the trench, spacing 7.5 cm apart. Cover with soil and firm down gently. If planting multiple rows, allow 90 cm between rows. Protect young seedlings from birds with netting or black cotton. Provide a trellis or low support for plants to climb. Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days. Water regularly to encourage steady growth. Regular picking prolongs cropping.
When to Plant
Autumn through to spring.
Soil Type
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or aged manure. Avoid planting in acidic or waterlogged soil.
Harvest
Ready to harvest from around 14 weeks. Pick frequently to encourage ongoing yields.
Sow
Spring, Autumn, Winter
Important Note
Additional fertiliser is not required, as snow peas fix their own nitrogen.
