Product Overview

Snow Pea Climbing Mammoth Melting Seeds

40 grams of seed

Climbing Mammoth Melting snow peas produce heavy crops of sweet, crisp pods over a long harvest season. A vigorous climber reaching up to 1.8 m, this variety needs staking or trellising and rewards with abundant yields. Ideal for home gardeners looking for a productive, easy-to-grow pea with excellent flavour.

How to Grow

Sow from late summer through to late winter, avoiding frost periods during flowering. Prepare trenches 15 cm wide and 5 cm deep. Sow seeds in a zigzag pattern along the trench, spacing 5 cm apart. Cover with soil and firm down gently. Space rows 45 cm apart and provide a trellis or stakes up to 1.8 m tall, positioned north to south for maximum sunlight. Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days. Protect young plants from birds with netting. Keep well watered. No additional fertiliser is required as peas fix their own nitrogen. Regular picking encourages continuous yields.

When to Plant

Late summer to late winter.

Soil Type

Prefers rich, well-drained soil improved with compost or aged manure. Avoid planting in very acidic or waterlogged soils.

Harvest

Ready in 8–10 weeks. Harvest regularly for the best flavour and to prolong cropping.

Sow

Summer, Autumn, Winter
