Oregano Herb Seeds
1250 Seeds
Oregano is a hardy perennial herb with fresh green leaves and clusters of rose-purple flowers in late summer. Its bold, pungent flavour makes it perfect for rich Mediterranean dishes, especially Greek favourites with lamb, cheese and grilled fish. It can also be used to infuse oils, bringing depth and fragrance to everyday cooking.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5mm deep in pots, trays or directly into finely prepared soil. Keep moist until seedlings establish, then thin to around 20cm apart. Oregano prefers a warm, sunny position and well-drained soil. Harvest leaves in spring and summer before flowers form, and remove flower stems to prolong the picking period. For year-round supply, grow indoors in pots on a sunny windowsill.
When To Plant
Sow outdoors in spring and summer, or indoors all year round.
Harvest
Pick leaves as needed throughout the year. Regular harvesting encourages bushier plants and stronger flavour.
Soil Type
Thrives in light, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Ideal for both pots and garden beds.
