Product Overview

Helleborus Winter Elegance Raspberry Ripple is a distinctive winter-flowering perennial prized for its double white flowers marked with rich raspberry-pink to burgundy rippling and flecking. Its intricate flower pattern and dark green foliage make it an eye-catching addition to shaded garden beds, woodland-style plantings, borders and containers.

Growth:

Helleborus Winter Elegance Raspberry Ripple forms a neat, clumping plant approximately 45cm high and 45cm wide. It develops a dense mound of attractive foliage that provides structure through the cooler months.

Light Requirements:

Plant in part shade to filtered shade. It performs particularly well beneath deciduous trees or in positions that receive winter light while being protected from harsh summer sun.

Soil Requirements:

Raspberry Ripple prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. It adapts to a range of soil types but performs best where moisture is retained without the root zone becoming waterlogged.

Water Requirements:

Water regularly during establishment and maintain consistent moisture while the plant is actively growing and flowering. Mulching will help retain soil moisture and protect the roots during warmer weather.

Frost Tolerance:

Helleborus Winter Elegance Raspberry Ripple has excellent frost tolerance and is well suited to cool and temperate climates.

Drought Tolerance:

Once established, Raspberry Ripple can tolerate short dry periods, particularly while dormant or growing slowly. Regular watering is beneficial during prolonged hot and dry conditions.

Flowering Information:

Double flowers feature a pale white background heavily overlaid with raspberry-pink to burgundy ripples, flecks and marbled markings. The main flowering period is from June through September, providing strong colour through winter and into early spring.

Spacing Requirements:

Allow approximately 40 to 50cm between plants to provide room for mature clumps to develop and maintain good airflow.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in autumn and again in spring to support healthy foliage and flowering. Compost or well-aged organic matter can also be applied around the root zone.

Care and Maintenance:

Remove old or damaged foliage before flowering to allow the blooms to stand out and improve airflow around the crown. Maintain mulch around the root zone, keeping it clear of the crown, and remove spent flowers if desired after flowering.
