Product Overview
Chilli Pepper Cayenne Hot Seeds
50 seeds
The Cayenne is a classic hot chilli, valued for its slender fruits that bring a sharp kick to cooking. Perfect for use in pickles, sauces, curries, and homemade chilli vinegar, these chillies are a staple for any kitchen gardener. Fruits can be picked green or left to ripen red for maximum heat and flavour.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5 mm deep in trays, punnets, or directly into warm garden soil. Keep moist until seedlings appear, usually within 7–21 days. Transplant once seedlings are 7–10 cm tall, spacing plants 50 cm apart in a sunny, sheltered spot. Water regularly without over-soaking and apply liquid fertiliser every few weeks for best results. Continuous picking will extend the harvest and keep plants productive.
When To Plant
Spring through early Summer. In warmer northern regions, sowing can extend into Winter.
Harvest
Summer through late Autumn. Fruits can be harvested green or fully mature red.
Sow
Spring, Summer.
Soil Type
Well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Care
Protect from frost, avoid handling fruits with bare hands, and take care as the oils may irritate skin and eyes.
