Product Overview

Camellia Sasanqua Marge Miller PBR is a unique, low-growing groundcover camellia that features soft pink, double flowers from early winter to spring. Its weeping habit makes it ideal for cascading over garden walls, rockeries, or as a stunning feature plant in containers. This variety is versatile and can be trained to form a weeping standard, adding visual interest and structure to your garden.

Growth:

Typically reaches a height of around 30 cm and spreads up to 1.5 metres, forming a dense mat of foliage that looks beautiful in mass plantings or as a groundcover.

Light Requirements:

Prefers part shade but can tolerate full sun in cooler climates. It is best protected from harsh afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch.

Soil Requirements:

Thrives in humus-rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. For container planting, use a camellia and azalea potting mix to support healthy growth.

Water Requirements:

Regular watering is needed, especially during dry periods. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Mulching helps retain soil moisture and maintain a cool root environment.

Frost Tolerance:

Moderately frost-tolerant. Established plants can withstand light frosts, but young plants may need protection.

Drought Tolerance:

Medium drought tolerance once established, provided the soil is well-mulched and the roots are kept cool.

Flowering Information:

Produces abundant soft pink, double flowers from early winter to spring, creating a spectacular display against the deep green foliage.

Spacing Requirements:

For groundcover planting, space about 0.9-1.2 metres apart. This allows for dense coverage and a lush, carpet-like effect.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Feed in spring with a general-purpose fertiliser. Additional feeding in mid to late summer may be necessary to support healthy growth and flowering.

Care and Maintenance:

Minimal pruning is required to maintain its shape. Prune lightly in early spring if needed. Regular mulching and proper watering will help ensure the plant thrives.
