Product Overview
Camellia Sasanqua Beatrice Emily is a charming evergreen shrub with delicate, fragrant flowers that bloom from late autumn to early winter. The flowers are predominantly white with soft mauve-pink shading on the reverse outer petals, creating an elegant display. Its compact, upright growth habit makes it an excellent choice for hedging, feature planting, or container gardening.
Growth:
Typically grows up to 1.5-2 metres in height and 1-1.5 metres in width, making it ideal for smaller garden spaces or container planting.
Light Requirements:
Prefers partial shade to full sun. It can tolerate morning sun but should be protected from the harsh afternoon sunlight to avoid leaf burn.
Soil Requirements:
Thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soils. Adding organic matter, such as compost, helps improve soil quality and supports healthy growth.
Water Requirements:
Moderate water requirements. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulching around the base can help retain moisture and maintain soil temperature.
Frost Tolerance:
Tolerates light frost but may need protection during severe conditions, especially when young.
Drought Tolerance:
Low drought tolerance. Regular watering is necessary during dry spells to prevent stress and promote healthy growth.
Flowering Information:
Produces delicate, fragrant, double white flowers with mauve-pink shading on the reverse petals from late autumn to early winter.
Spacing Requirements:
Plant 1-1.5 metres apart for hedging or as a standalone feature to ensure proper air circulation and growth.
Fertiliser Requirements:
Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser specifically formulated for acid-loving plants in spring. Avoid fertilising in late autumn or winter to protect new growth from frost damage.
Care and Maintenance:
Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and promote bushier growth. Apply mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Regularly check for pests like scale and aphids and treat as needed.
