Product Overview
Basil Thai Herb Seeds
300 Seeds
Thai basil is a fragrant variety with striking purple-green leaves and a distinctive aniseed aroma and flavour. Essential in many Asian dishes, it adds depth to curries, stir-fries and soups. Compact and decorative, it grows beautifully in pots, containers or garden borders, and can be kept indoors or outdoors in warm conditions.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5mm deep directly where they are to grow, spacing plants about 30cm apart. Keep soil moist during germination. Basil thrives in a warm, sunny position with well-drained soil. In exposed gardens, staking with bamboo can help prevent plants from collapsing. Remove flower heads to extend the leafy harvest and encourage strong growth.
When To Plant
Sow in spring and early summer. In frost-free regions, Thai basil can also be grown in pots year-round.
Harvest
Pick leaves as required from spring through autumn. Regular harvesting encourages fresh new growth.
Soil Type
Prefers rich, free-draining soil with plenty of added compost or organic matter.
