Product Overview
Basil Ruby Red Herb Seeds
300 Seeds
This striking variety stands out with its deep red leaves that bring both flavour and colour to the kitchen. The mild aniseed and clove taste is delicious in salads, pasta and pizzas, while the rich foliage makes a bold statement in the herb garden or when grown in pots on a sunny windowsill.
How To Grow
Sow seeds directly into garden beds in rows, then thin seedlings to about 30cm apart. For pots or indoor growing, sow 5mm deep, preferably in small peat pots to avoid disturbing the roots. Transplant outdoors from late October into a warm, sheltered position. Basil thrives in rich, well-drained soil and benefits from regular picking to encourage bushy growth.
When To Plant
Can be sown year-round in pots and containers, or outdoors in spring and summer once the soil is warm.
Harvest
Pick leaves as required throughout the year. Regular harvesting keeps plants productive and maintains fresh new growth.
Soil Type
Prefers fertile, free-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
