Australian Native Heath Banksia Seeds
10 Seeds
The Heath Banksia (Banksia ericifolia) is one of Australia’s most beautiful native plants, prized for its large, striking spikes of yellow to reddish-orange flowers that contrast dramatically with its light-green to greyish-green foliage. It is the most colourful of the eastern Banksia species and an exceptional choice for attracting honey-eating birds to your garden. Hardy, long-lived, and uniquely ornamental, Heath Banksia is a standout feature for native landscapes.
We recommend using Mr Fothergill’s Wildflower Seed Starter Granules to improve germination, as they replicate bushfire smoke chemicals that stimulate native seed growth.
Plant Height: Up to 5m in garden conditions
How To Grow
Sow in warm areas at any time, or after the danger of frost has passed in cooler regions. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface, either directly where they are to grow or in seed trays filled with a moist, quality seed-raising mix. Cover lightly with soil, water gently, and keep moist but not waterlogged. Adding Wildflower Seed Starter granules to the soil surface will aid germination. Place pots or trays in a warm, shaded position. Transplant seedlings when around 7cm (3”) high, avoiding root disturbance. Choose a sunny or partly shaded final position with well-drained soil. Water regularly until established, and avoid high-phosphate fertilisers that may damage Australian natives.
Seedlings emerge: 21–42 days
