Product Overview
Spinach Climbing Malabar Greens World Kitchen Seeds
Approx 10 Seeds
Also known as Ceylon Spinach, Malabar Greens is a fast-growing vine native to tropical Asia. Unlike regular spinach, it thrives in the heat of summer, producing an abundance of glossy, dark green leaves with a flavour similar to spinach. The leaves can be eaten raw in salads or lightly cooked in stir-fries, curries, and soups. Ideal for vertical growing, it’s perfect along fences or trellises.
How to Grow
Sow seeds 1 cm deep in seed trays or directly where plants are to grow. Choose a sunny, sheltered position with support such as a fence or trellis. Germination may take up to 3 weeks but can be improved by lightly scuffing the seed with sandpaper before sowing. Keep soil moist during germination and throughout the growing season. Begin harvesting leaves from around 10 weeks after sowing.
When to Plant
Spring to summer, once soil has warmed.
Soil Type
Prefers fertile, well-cultivated, free-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Harvest
