Product Overview

Sansevieria trifasciata Laurentii Variegata Variegated Snake Plant is a bold, architectural indoor or outdoor plant known for its upright, sword-like leaves with green banding and bright golden-yellow margins. It’s incredibly hardy and valued for its air-purifying qualities, drought resistance, and ability to thrive in a wide range of conditions. Perfect for modern interiors, patios, or low-care landscaping.

Growth:

Forms a clumping, upright habit reaching 60-100 cm tall. Slowly spreads via underground rhizomes, gradually forming larger clumps.

Light Requirements:

Tolerates low light but performs best in bright, indirect light. Will also handle full sun, though strong direct light may slightly fade variegation.

Soil Requirements:

Requires free-draining soil. Ideal in succulent or cactus mix. Avoid heavy or soggy soils, which can lead to root rot.

Water Requirements:

Very low water needs. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum.

Frost Tolerance:

Frost-sensitive. Best kept indoors or in protected outdoor areas during cold weather. Tolerates temperatures down to around 5°C.

Drought Tolerance:

Excellent drought tolerance once established. Can survive long periods without water, making it ideal for forgetful gardeners or dry interiors.

Flowering Information:

May occasionally produce pale green or white, fragrant tubular flowers on a tall stalk, typically during summer. Flowering is rare in indoor conditions.

Spacing Requirements:

Space 30–40 cm apart if planting in mass or garden beds. Commonly grown as a feature in individual pots.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Feed lightly once or twice a year in spring and summer with a general-purpose or cactus fertiliser. Overfeeding is unnecessary and may cause floppy growth.

Care and Maintenance:

Very low maintenance. Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust. Repot every 2-3 years or when rootbound. Divide clumps to propagate. Avoid overwatering at all costs.
