Pumpkin Jap Seeds

A classic round pumpkin with excellent flavour and good keeping qualities. Jap pumpkins are versatile in the kitchen and store well for several months. Plants thrive even in poorer soils, as they prefer lower nutrient levels than most vegetables.
How To Grow
Sow seeds in clumps of 2–3, spacing each clump 60cm apart. Place seeds on their edges to prevent rotting and keep soil moist. Thin to the strongest seedling once germinated. Soil should be warm but not overly fertile, as too much nutrition promotes leaf growth at the expense of fruit. Provide liquid feeds and hand-pollinate female flowers if required. Harvest when fruit stalks have dried. Pumpkins store for 4–5 months if kept dry and undamaged.

Warm, well-drained soil with moderate fertility.
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with a fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat the seeds or feed them to animals. Fungicide treatment is an AQIS requirement for certain varieties of seeds. It does not affect crop quality or harm beneficial insects such as bees. If your packet has been treated it will be clearly marked, and the seeds dyed a distinct colour.
