Spearmint Seed Mats make it easy to grow this refreshing herb at home. The seeds are pre-spaced in biodegradable paper, giving even germination and removing the need for thinning. Spearmint’s cool, sweet flavour is perfect for drinks, teas, sauces, lamb dishes and desserts, while the bright green leaves also make an attractive garnish.
How To Grow
Fill a 9cm pot with soil mix, leaving about 1.5cm at the top for watering space. Place the seed mat on the surface, firm down gently and cover with a fine layer of soil. Water well and keep in a warm spot (15–20°C is ideal). Plants can be grown on a sunny windowsill, patio, or outdoors in containers to help contain their spreading habit. Keep soil evenly moist for best results.
When To Plant
Sow from spring through early autumn, or indoors year-round in a warm, bright position.
Harvest
Pick leaves as required once plants are growing strongly. Regular cutting encourages bushier growth.
