Nepeta cataria is a hardy perennial herb loved by cats for its intensely aromatic foliage, encouraging playful behaviour such as rolling and rubbing. As well as being a favourite with pets, Catnip produces masses of small white flowers that attract bees and beneficial insects to the garden. It grows easily in garden beds or pots and also makes a useful mild herbal tea for people.

How To Grow
Sow seeds 5mm deep in seed trays or small pots filled with seed-raising mix. Keep soil lightly moist and place in a warm, bright position. Transplant seedlings once they reach about 5cm tall, spacing plants 30cm apart in the garden. Grows best in full sun to part shade with free-draining soil. Seedlings emerge in 7–14 days.
