Cabbage Sugarloaf Seeds
500 seeds
Sugarloaf is a reliable cabbage variety, easily recognised by its tall, compact, conical-shaped heads. The crisp, tender leaves have a sweet flavour, making it a versatile choice for both cooked dishes and fresh salads. With its steady maturing habit, it provides a harvest over several weeks rather than all at once, perfect for home gardeners wanting a continuous supply.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 1.5cm deep in a tray, punnet, or directly into a prepared seed bed. Keep soil moist until seedlings appear, usually within 7–10 days. Transplant when seedlings have developed 2–4 true leaves, spacing 40–60cm apart in rows. Choose a sunny, well-prepared soil enriched with compost or organic matter, and water consistently to encourage firm, healthy heads.
When To Plant
Early spring through to early autumn.
Harvest
12–16 weeks from sowing, once the heads feel firm to touch.
Sow
Spring, Summer, Autumn
Important Note
These seeds may be treated with a fungicide (Thiram or Apron XL). Do not eat the seeds or feed them to animals. Fungicide treatment is an AQIS requirement for certain varieties. It does not affect your crops or harm beneficial insects such as bees. If treated, packets will be clearly labelled and seeds dyed for identification.
