Sweet Genovese basil is a popular culinary herb, valued for its aromatic green leaves and classic Mediterranean flavour. Use it fresh with tomatoes, in salads and pasta dishes, or to make pesto. These certified organic loose seeds are suitable for growing in pots or a sunny herb garden.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 5mm deep in fertile, well-drained soil or quality potting mix. Allow approximately 30cm between plants. Keep the soil moist during germination and growth, and choose a warm, sunny position. Pick the growing tips regularly to encourage bushy plants and remove flower buds to prolong leaf production.
When To Plant
Sow outdoors in spring and summer once frost danger has passed and conditions are warm.
Harvest
Begin picking leaves in approximately 8 to 12 weeks. Regular harvesting encourages fresh growth.
