Aster Californian Giant (Callistephus chinensis) is an old garden favourite, valued for its brilliant summer displays of large, ruffled blooms in a wide range of vibrant colours. These asters make excellent cut flowers, holding their shape and colour well, and thrive in both sunny and partially shaded garden positions. As an annual, they complete their life cycle within the season, bringing long-lasting colour to beds, borders, and cottage-style gardens.

How To Grow
Sow seeds 6mm deep in seed boxes, punnets, or directly into the flowering position. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, spacing plants 45cm apart, and wait until the risk of frost has passed before planting outdoors. In hotter conditions, mulch with lawn clippings or compost to retain soil moisture and keep roots cool. Asters benefit from regular watering throughout their growing and flowering season.
