Grosse Lisse is one of the most popular and trusted tomato varieties, widely grown by gardeners across the world. This mid-season variety produces large, well-flavoured fruits on strong, sturdy plants. An excellent source of vitamins C, A and E, potassium, fibre, and antioxidants, it’s a healthy and delicious addition to the garden. Perfect for slicing into sandwiches, adding to salads, or eating fresh from the vine.
How to Grow
Sow seeds 5 mm deep in pots or trays of quality seed-raising mix. Keep moist in a warm, sunny position until seedlings emerge (10–14 days). Transplant to 10–15 cm pots when large enough to handle, then move to the garden once sturdy. Space plants 75 cm apart each way. Stake early and pinch out side shoots as they appear. Water consistently and feed with a potassium-rich fertiliser after the first truss has set. Can also be sown directly outdoors in warm climates for later crops.

Early spring to early summer; year-round in frost-free, warm regions.
Soil Type
Rich, fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Prefers a sunny position.
Harvest
Ready in 16–18 weeks. Pick fruits when fully red, or harvest slightly coloured fruit to ripen indoors.
