Product Overview

Tomato Grosse Lisse (Lycopersicon esculentum) is one of Australia’s most popular homegrown tomato varieties, prized for its generous harvests, smooth red fruit and classic rich tomato flavour. This reliable mid to late season staking variety produces medium to large tomatoes with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, making it a versatile favourite for fresh eating and cooking alike. Vigorous and easy to grow, Grosse Lisse performs beautifully in vegetable gardens, raised beds and large containers, rewarding gardeners with continual crops throughout the warmer months.

How To Grow:

Plant in rich, well drained soil and water consistently to encourage strong vine growth and healthy fruit production. Support plants with sturdy stakes, cages or trellises to keep vines upright and improve airflow.

When To Plant:

Spring through summer once frost risk has passed and soil temperatures have warmed.

Harvest:

Ready in 10-12 weeks. Harvest fruit once fully red and slightly soft to the touch for the best flavour and texture.

Position:

Full sun in a warm, sheltered position with good airflow.

Soil Type:

Free draining, fertile soil enriched with compost or well aged organic matter.

Growing Tips:

Keep soil evenly moist and avoid overhead watering to help minimise fungal problems. Feed regularly during flowering and fruiting to support strong growth and heavy yields. Harvest regularly to encourage continual production.

Notes:

Excellent fresh in salads, sandwiches and burgers or cooked into sauces, soups and grilled dishes. Its juicy texture and balanced flavour make it a dependable all-rounder for everyday kitchen use. Sold as a single seedling from the Howlong Advanced Vegetable Collection.
