Product Overview
Osteospermum ecklonis Pink Fairies Wand is a low-growing perennial daisy (often treated as semi-evergreen in mild climates) with soft pink to white daisy-style blooms held above green foliage. It’s ideal for sunny borders, rockeries, containers, and as a groundcover.
Growth:
Reaches about 40 cm high and spreads to approximately 60 cm under good conditions.
Light Requirements:
Thrives in full sun to part shade. Best flowering and form in full sun.
Soil Requirements:
Prefers well-drained soil. Tolerates a range of soil types as long as drainage is good.
Water Requirements:
Water regularly while establishing. Once mature, it tolerates dry spells, though consistent moisture helps maintain stronger flowering.
Frost Tolerance:
Handles light to moderate frost. New growth may be affected in harsher frost but the plant generally recovers.
Drought Tolerance:
Moderate. It can endure periods of dryness once established, but flowering may be reduced under prolonged drought.
Flowering Information:
Blooms repeatedly most of the year in favorable conditions. Flowers are pink to white, borne abundantly above the foliage.
Spacing Requirements:
Plant about 50-60 cm apart to allow space for spread and airflow.
Fertiliser Requirements:
Low feeding needs. A balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring is sufficient. Occasional liquid feedings through the season help sustain blooms.
Care and Maintenance:
Deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering. Trim back lightly mid-season to maintain shape. Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, ensuring good airflow at the base.
