The most widely grown lettuce variety, Iceberg is known for its tightly packed, crisp heart and sweet, crunchy leaves. Hardy, reliable and easy to grow, it’s a garden staple perfect for salads and sandwiches.
How To Grow
Sow indoors from mid-winter or directly in the garden once the danger of frost has passed, and again after the heat of summer has eased. Prefers cooler growing conditions as excessive heat can cause bolting. Sow seeds 3mm deep into well-prepared soil. Keep soil moist and feed with liquid fertiliser every two weeks to encourage quick growth. Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days.
