Product Overview

Geranium Pelargonium graveolens Rober’s Lemon Rose is a fragrant evergreen woody perennial with soft grey-green foliage, deeply scalloped leaf lobes that often resemble tomato leaves, and a sharp lemon-rose perfume whenever the leaves are crushed. It brings texture, fragrance, and seasonal flowers to herb gardens, containers, and mixed beds.

Growth:

Reaches approximately 90 cm tall and spreads up to 90 cm wide under ideal conditions, though pruning can keep size more compact and encourage branching.

Light Requirements:

Thrives in full sun to part shade. Best flowering and scent occur with strong light; some afternoon shade helps in very hot climates.

Soil Requirements:

Prefers well-drained soil, such as sandy loam or loamy mixes; avoids heavy, poorly draining soil to prevent root issues.

Water Requirements:

Water regularly while establishing. Once mature, soil should dry slightly between waterings—do not overwater.

Frost Tolerance:

Sensitive to severe frost. Performs best in mild, temperate zones or with protection in colder areas.

Drought Tolerance:

Moderate drought tolerance once established; can handle dry spells if well mulched and in well drained soil.

Flowering Information:

Produces clusters of small lavender-mauve flowers, often in spring through to early summer. Flowers appear on long stems above foliage and provide colour while the scented leaves persist.

Spacing Requirements:

Plant about 60 to 90 cm apart to allow airflow and full display of foliage and flowers.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Low feeding needs. A light spring application of balanced or slow-release fertiliser supports healthy growth; avoid excessive nitrogen which can reduce fragrance and flowering.

Care and Maintenance:

Low maintenance. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape. Removing spent flowers encourages more blooms. Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Performs well in containers or garden beds with good draining soil.
