Product Overview

Correa alba is a hardy, evergreen shrub native to coastal areas of Australia. It features rounded, grey-green foliage and produces white to pale pink, star-shaped flowers from autumn through to spring. This versatile shrub is well-suited to coastal gardens, hedging, or as a feature plant, offering year-round interest and attracting birds and pollinators to the garden.

Growth:

Correa alba typically grows up to 1–1.5 metres tall and wide, making it an excellent choice for small gardens, hedges, or as a low-maintenance feature plant.

Light Requirements:

It thrives in full sun to partial shade, tolerating a wide range of light conditions. Coastal exposure is not an issue, as it is well adapted to withstand sea spray.

Soil Requirements:

Prefers well-drained sandy or loamy soils but is adaptable to a variety of soil types, including poor soils. Adding organic matter will improve performance in less-than-ideal soils.

Water Requirements:

Water regularly during the establishment period. Once established, it is highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal additional watering.

Frost Tolerance:

Correa alba has good frost tolerance and can handle light frosts, making it suitable for cooler climates.

Drought Tolerance:

This plant is highly drought-tolerant once established, making it ideal for waterwise and coastal gardens.

Flowering Information:

Correa alba produces small, star-shaped white to pale pink flowers from late autumn through to early spring, attracting birds and beneficial pollinators.

Spacing Requirements:

Space plants approximately 1 metre apart to allow for their natural growth and spread, or closer for a dense hedge.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Apply a slow-release, native-specific fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and flowering. Mulching will help retain moisture and improve soil structure.

Care and Maintenance:

This low-maintenance shrub requires minimal care. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and promote dense growth. Mulching will help conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
