Golden Self Blanching is a reliable variety producing crisp, juicy stems with a refreshing flavour and no trace of bitterness. The stringless, thick stalks form crunchy hearts and are naturally self-blanching, making them far easier to grow than traditional types. With strong disease resistance and minimal care requirements, this celery is perfect for the home gardener.
How To Grow
Sow seeds 12mm deep in seed trays from spring through to autumn, keeping soil consistently moist. Germination usually takes 7–14 days. Transplant seedlings once they reach the 2–4 leaf stage, spacing 25cm apart in blocks to help stems blanch naturally. Keep plants well-watered and feed regularly to encourage rapid growth. Remove any side shoots that develop at the base of the plant.
