Product Overview
Wisteria floribunda Honbeni Rosea Japanese Pale Pink is a stunning, deciduous climber admired for its long, fragrant racemes of soft pink flowers tinged with lavender. These blossoms, which can grow up to 60 cm in length, appear in late spring to early summer, creating a spectacular floral display that makes this plant a standout in any garden. It is well-suited for covering pergolas, walls, or arches, providing both beauty and shade.
Growth:
This vigorous climber can reach a height of 6-8 metres and a spread of 2-3 metres. It requires sturdy support and regular pruning to maintain its shape and encourage abundant flowering.
Light Requirements:
Thrives in full sun to part shade. For the best flowering, it should be planted in a position that receives plenty of sunlight, ideally at least six hours per day.
Soil Requirements:
Prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil. It can adapt to various soil types but benefits from the addition of organic matter to maintain moisture and support healthy growth.
Water Requirements:
Regular watering is essential, especially during the establishment phase and dry periods. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged to prevent root issues.
Frost Tolerance:
Highly frost-tolerant once established, making it suitable for a range of Australian climates. It can withstand cold winters, and its foliage will turn a pleasant yellow in autumn before falling.
Drought Tolerance:
Moderately drought-tolerant once established. However, regular deep watering during dry spells will support healthier growth and more prolific flowering.
Flowering Information:
Produces long, drooping clusters of highly fragrant, soft pink flowers from late spring to early summer. The blooms are a real show-stopper and attract bees and other pollinators, enhancing garden biodiversity.
Spacing Requirements:
Space plants approximately 3-4 metres apart to allow adequate airflow and growth.
Fertiliser Requirements:
Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring to support vigorous growth and abundant flowering. Additional feeding after the blooming season will encourage strong growth for the following year.
Care and Maintenance:
Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage healthy growth. Regular pruning during summer is recommended to control size and promote the development of short spurs, which will produce more flowers the following spring. This plant is hardy but benefits from a sunny, well-drained site with strong support.
