Product Overview

The Children’s Rose Hybrid Tea Bush Rose is an elegant deciduous rose admired for its large, fully double blooms in soft powder pink and its strong fragrance. The beautifully formed flowers appear on long stems, making them excellent for cutting and enjoying indoors. With vigorous, upright growth and repeated flowering from spring through autumn, this variety is a lovely choice for rose gardens, mixed borders and dedicated cutting gardens.

Growth:

The Children’s Rose typically grows approximately 1.5 to 1.8 metres tall and 1 metre wide. It develops an upright, well-branched bush with long flowering stems.

Light Requirements:

Plant in full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. An open position with good air circulation encourages healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Soil Requirements:

Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or well-rotted organic matter. Improve drainage in heavy soils before planting and avoid positions that remain waterlogged.

Water Requirements:

Water deeply and regularly during establishment and throughout hot, dry weather. Apply water directly to the soil around the base, keeping the foliage dry where possible to help reduce fungal problems.

Frost Tolerance:

The Children’s Rose tolerates winter frosts well when dormant and established. Tender new shoots and developing flowers may be damaged by late frosts.

Drought Tolerance:

Established plants tolerate short dry periods but perform best with regular deep watering during prolonged dry conditions. Consistent moisture supports healthy growth and repeat flowering.

Flowering Information:

Large, highly fragrant, soft pink flowers open from elegant buds into fully double blooms. Flowers appear mainly on single stems, occasionally in small clusters, in repeated flushes from spring through autumn. Their long vase life makes them particularly suitable for floral arrangements.

Spacing Requirements:

Space plants approximately 1 to 1.2 metres apart to accommodate their mature spread. Allow sufficient room for airflow and easy access when pruning or picking flowers.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Apply a fertiliser formulated for roses in early spring as active growth begins. Repeat applications throughout the growing season according to the product instructions, watering thoroughly after feeding.

Care and Maintenance:

Prune in late winter, removing dead, weak and crossing stems and shortening the remaining growth to maintain a strong, balanced framework. Remove spent flowers to encourage further blooms and any suckers arising below the graft. Clear fallen leaves, monitor for aphids and black spot, and mulch around the root zone, keeping it clear of the main stems.
