Product Overview

Heuchera Marmalade is a semi-evergreen perennial prized for its richly coloured foliage and neat mound-forming habit. With leaves that shift through amber, copper, and russet tones (often with hot pink undersides), it serves beautifully in garden borders, containers, and shaded garden corners.

Growth:

Forms a compact clump, typically around 30-40 cm high and spreading to 35-45 cm wide, making it well suited for edging or mass planting in smaller garden spaces.

Light Requirements:

Prefers full sun to part shade. In hotter regions, some afternoon shade can help maintain leaf colour and prevent foliage from fading.

Soil Requirements:

Thrives in moist but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid heavy, water-logged soils which can damage the base of the plant.

Water Requirements:

Water regularly while establishing. Once established, allow the top of the soil to dry slightly between waterings; consistent moisture will help preserve bright foliage tones.

Frost Tolerance:

Moderately frost tolerant when established. Light frosts may affect leaf appearance, but strong new growth normally follows in spring.

Drought Tolerance:

Moderate. The plant tolerates short dry periods but performs best with regular moisture during hot, dry weather to retain colour intensity.

Flowering Information:

Produces slender spikes of small bell-shaped flowers in reddish-brown tones above the foliage in late spring to early summer, adding delicate texture above the bold leaves.

Spacing Requirements:

Space plants about 30-40 cm apart to allow for natural spread and good air circulation between clumps.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Low feeding needs. Apply a light dressing of slow-release fertiliser in spring to support healthy foliage and flowering.

Care and Maintenance:

Remove spent flower spikes to maintain a tidy appearance. Trim back older or damaged leaves as needed. Every few years, divide congested clumps in early spring to maintain vigour. Mulch lightly to retain moisture, keeping mulch away from the plant crown to avoid rot.
