Product Overview
Grevillea Hills Jubilee is a compact, upright shrub bred to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hills Grammar School. This low-growing shrub has fine green foliage and produces abundant spider-like flowers in a stunning combination of pink and white, which bloom from early spring to mid-autumn. Due to its dense and bushy growth habit, it works well in garden beds, as informal hedging, or even as a decorative container plant. Its flowers attract nectar-feeding birds, making it ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens.
Growth:
Typically grows to around 1–1.5 metres in height and about 1 metre in width, forming a rounded, dense shrub.
Light Requirements:
Prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade, with full sun promoting more prolific flowering.
Soil Requirements:
Adapts well to a variety of soils, including loamy, sandy loam, and even clay. It prefers well-drained soil and can handle slightly acidic to neutral pH levels.
Water Requirements:
Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant, needing minimal supplemental watering.
Frost Tolerance:
This variety is frost-tolerant, suitable for temperate and coastal regions.
Drought Tolerance:
Highly drought-resistant once mature, suitable for low-water landscapes.
Flowering Information:
Produces clusters of pink and white flowers primarily from early spring through mid-autumn, attracting pollinators like bees and birds.
Spacing Requirements:
Plant approximately 1 metre apart for full coverage in hedging or garden beds.
Fertiliser Requirements:
Use a low-phosphorus, native-specific fertiliser in spring, as Grevilleas are sensitive to high phosphorus levels.
Care and Maintenance:
Light pruning after flowering helps maintain shape and density. Mulching around the base helps retain moisture, though keep mulch away from the stems to prevent rot.
