Product Overview
Viburnum Tinus Anvi is a versatile evergreen shrub valued for its dense rounded growth, glossy dark green foliage and impressive clusters of white flowers. Pink flower buds, crimson-toned new stems and deep purplish-blue berries provide changing seasonal interest, making it an excellent choice for hedging, screening, feature planting and larger garden beds.
Growth:
Viburnum Tinus Anvi develops into a dense, rounded evergreen shrub generally growing around 3 to 4 metres high and up to 3.5 metres wide. It responds well to pruning and can be maintained at a smaller size when used for hedging or screening.
Light Requirements:
Plant in full sun to part shade. Good light will encourage dense growth and abundant flowering, although Anvi performs well in partially shaded positions.
Soil Requirements:
Anvi is adaptable to a range of soil types but performs best in fertile, well-drained soil that retains some moisture. Incorporating organic matter before planting will help improve soil structure and moisture retention.
Water Requirements:
Water regularly during establishment to develop a strong root system. Once established, provide deep watering during prolonged hot and dry periods. Consistent moisture will encourage the strongest foliage, flowering and berry production.
Frost Tolerance:
Viburnum Tinus Anvi has excellent frost tolerance once established and is well suited to cool and temperate gardens.
Drought Tolerance:
Once established, Anvi can tolerate moderate periods of dryness but performs best with supplementary watering during extended hot and dry conditions.
Flowering Information:
Large clusters of white flowers emerge from attractive pink buds and can cover the shrub from winter through to late spring. Deep purplish-blue berries follow the flowers, while fresh stems often display attractive crimson colouring against the glossy green foliage.
Spacing Requirements:
Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 metres between plants when creating a dense hedge or screen. Wider spacing can be used when allowing plants to develop as individual feature shrubs.
Fertiliser Requirements:
Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy new growth and flowering. Compost or well-aged organic matter can also be applied around the root zone to improve soil condition.
Care and Maintenance:
Prune after flowering and berry production to maintain the desired size and shape. Anvi naturally develops a dense habit and responds well to regular trimming when grown as a hedge or screen. Mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the main stems.
