Product Overview

Chilli Hot Mix (Capsicum annuum) is a colourful and fiery blend of chilli varieties offering a wide range of shapes, flavours and heat levels. This exciting mix may include favourites such as cayenne, birdseye, habanero, Hungarian wax and serrano, producing vibrant fruit in shades of red, orange, yellow and green. From mild warmth to intense heat, each plant brings its own character to the garden and kitchen. Compact and highly productive, these chillies thrive in sunny positions and are perfect for vegetable gardens, raised beds and large containers.

How To Grow:

Plant in rich, well drained soil and water consistently to support strong growth and healthy fruit production. Mulch around the base to help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Feed regularly during flowering and fruiting.

When To Plant:

Spring through summer once frost risk has passed and soil temperatures have warmed.

Harvest:

Ready in 11-14 weeks. Harvest fruit once mature and brightly coloured for the best flavour and heat.

Position:

Full sun in a warm, sheltered location protected from frost and strong winds.

Soil Type:

Free draining, fertile soil enriched with compost or well aged organic matter.

Growing Tips:

Keep soil evenly moist during hot weather and fruiting periods. Frequent harvesting encourages continual flowering and larger crops. Some varieties can be extremely hot, so handle mature fruit with care.

Notes:

Excellent for sauces, chutneys, curries, pickling, drying and homemade chilli flakes. The colourful fruit and varied heat levels make this mix both ornamental and highly versatile in the kitchen. Supplied as a punnet of seedlings from the Howlong Healthy Living Vegetable Collection.
