Product Overview

Burgundy Iceberg PBR Floribunda Bush Rose is a striking deciduous rose admired for its abundant clusters of rich burgundy-purple blooms and light fragrance. Its lush green foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the flowers, which appear repeatedly from spring through autumn. With a bushy, upright habit and a generous flowering display, this variety is ideal for rose gardens, mixed borders, flowering hedges and large decorative pots.

Growth:

Burgundy Iceberg typically grows approximately 1.2 to 1.5 metres tall and 1 to 1.2 metres wide. It develops a rounded, well-branched bush that responds well to annual pruning.

Light Requirements:

Plant in full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. An open position with good air circulation encourages healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Soil Requirements:

Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or well-rotted organic matter. Avoid waterlogged conditions and improve drainage in heavy soils before planting.

Water Requirements:

Water deeply and regularly during establishment and throughout hot, dry weather. Direct water to the soil around the base, avoiding wetting the foliage where possible to help reduce fungal problems.

Frost Tolerance:

Burgundy Iceberg tolerates winter frosts well when dormant and established. Tender new shoots and developing flowers may be damaged by late frosts.

Drought Tolerance:

Established plants tolerate short dry periods but require regular deep watering for strong growth and repeat flowering. Apply mulch to help retain soil moisture during summer.

Flowering Information:

Clusters of lightly fragrant, burgundy-purple flowers appear in repeated flushes from spring through autumn. Flower colour can vary with temperature and growing conditions. Removing spent blooms encourages further flowering.

Spacing Requirements:

Space plants approximately 1 to 1.2 metres apart for general garden planting. For a fuller flowering hedge, approximately 80 centimetres to 1 metre apart is suitable, allowing room for airflow.

Fertiliser Requirements:

Apply a fertiliser formulated for roses in early spring as active growth begins. Repeat applications during the growing season according to the product instructions, watering thoroughly after feeding.

Care and Maintenance:

Prune in late winter, removing dead, weak and crossing stems and shortening the remaining growth to maintain a balanced shape. Deadhead regularly, remove any suckers arising below the graft and clear fallen leaves. Monitor for aphids and black spot, particularly during humid weather, and keep mulch clear of the main stems.
